In a word, YES! But I’m guessing you already kinda knew that or you wouldn’t be here. ;)
So how exactly does Pinterest help your business and what do you need to do to make sure it’s working for you in the best way possible? Well, read on, my friend.
How Does Pinterest Help My Business
It’s a Search Engine - Not a Social Media
That means people go in Pinterest knowing (basically) what they are looking for and ready to buy it. This is HUGE for business.
Social media is meant for scrolling, liking pretty pictures, and making connections. But you don’t think “I need someone to help me with Pinterest. Let me find someone on Instagram.”
But I’m willing to bet you will head over to Pinterest and make a couple of quick searches for “best Pinterest strategy” or “Pinterest expert” and see what pops up. Maybe check out a few blog posts. See who you might connect with…
And THEN reach out to them on Instagram.
Your clients are doing the same thing.
So meet them where they are. Give them content to search for.

Make Your Content Searchable
Now, you can’t just throw some pins up on Pinterest and call it a day. Pins absolutely have a longer shelf life than a social media post. But, you have to help them with that by using keywords.
Hint: Pinterest SEO isn’t that much different that SEO for your website.
There are 3 main places you want to be sure you have keywords optimized.
Your profile.
Your boards.
Your pins.
It’s very easy to find the keywords you should be using. Type a word you think your clients would use to search for you, and see what suggestions pop up in the colorful boxes below the search bar.
Those are the combinations of words you want to use throughout your profile, your boards, and your pin descriptions because any of those things can pop up in someone’s search results.
They could search for branding tips and not only do a couple of your pins pop up, so does your profile which tells them you are a branding coach. They also get a glimpse of some of your boards which show them more of your content.
So now, they are getting you know you after one quick Pinterest search and some well placed keywords.
Pretty great, right? So much easier than writing endless social media posts that only show up for a few hours at best! ;) Your pins and boards will turn up in search results over and over if they are optimized properly.
Okay, But How Do I Get My Content Out There
This is the fun part! There are basically 3 things I do to keep my pins circulating without spending all day on Pinterest. (although I absolutely could spend all day there!)
I have all my evergreen pins looping to various boards automatically using the Loops feature of Tailwind. This keeps me from having to schedule my own pins over and over and over. I add them once, tell Tailwind which boards I want them to loop to and let it do it’s thing. You can even set up a schedule to keep it from pinning the same pin too many times in one day (no spam, please!) or from pinning to the same board too often.
I still join and pin to and from group boards. Some people may tell you this is an old strategy, because it’s certainly not new! But I still find it beneficial to getting my content in front of eyes other than those of my followers. The trick is finding boards that are a) accepting new contributors, and b) are active. You don’t want to be the only one pinning to that board. And you want people to be sharing from it.
I also use Tailwind Communities to get my content out. These work similarly to group boards but are in Tailwind rather than in Pinterest. Simply share your new pins to the tribes and schedule some other tribe members content to your own schedule. It’s a great way to get new eyes on your content and my monthly views have doubled since using them. Just like with boards, you need to find relevant tribes that are active!
This is the very beginning of how Pinterest can help your business. It can absolutely be a game changer. I will tell you this, I am not big on social media. I hang out there from time to time, but honestly, I could do without it. But in online business you have to be, well, online, right? Admittedly, I have not put much (or any) effort into promoting my work on Facebook or in Facebook Groups which still seems to be the way most people tell you to do it.
But my email list is growing still growing. With little to no social media effort on my part. Just tons of effort and emphasis on making sure my content is visible on Pinterest.
